Anthony Longo's Crohn's Cycling
Cycling for a Cure in 2013!

This year, I'll be coaching and riding for CC Team Challenge team!

As some of you know, I myself have Crohn’s Disease. Most people do not believe that I have the disease. I was diagnosed when I was 13 years old. I have had 5 surgeries as a result of my disease. Having Crohn’s Disease is not only difficult for those of us, who have it, but also on our loved ones. As a child with the disease, I remember the look of despair in my parent’s eyes, helpless to do anything. Through High School and College, the concern from friends who always looked out for my health. Seeing my wife and children sad when I had a flare and was in pain or had another surgery. When I was diagnosed, I chose to not let Crohn’s Disease dictate my life. I have never let it stop me from doing the things I wanted. High School, Pharmacy School, Residency, Graduate School, Marriage, Children, Skiing, Biking, and the list goes on. As I embark on a fantastic journey, I need your help! I will complete the "Farmride" in Amherst, MA this August 3rd with an incredible team. We will raise funds and awareness for research leading to improved treatment options and a cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Together, we can make a difference! I’ve committed to raise $3,000 in donations to The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.

I AM MOTIVATED! I AM COMMITTED!! I WILL DO IT!!! (Watch your mail for my post-event news update.) Feel free to forward this website to your friends and family.

Thank-you for your support.

About Team Challenge
Team Challenge is the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America’s endurance training and fundraising program. With Team Challenge, you’ll find new strength inside yourself, and help find cures for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, two painful, seldom-discussed and debilitating digestive diseases. With our Half Marathon and Triathlon Training Programs, you'll train for a rewarding and exciting endurance event at one of our great destination races while raising vital funds for research into these diseases. These dollars will help make new treatments possible and fuel the search for cures.

About Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are both major categories of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). IBD affects an estimated 1.4 million Americans. These chronic diseases tend to run in families and they affect males and females equally. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract and may affect any part from the mouth to the anus. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition limited to the colon, otherwise known as the large intestine.

About CCFA
Since our founding over four decades ago, CCFA has remained at the forefront of research in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Today, we fund cutting-edge studies at major medical institutions, nurture investigators at the early stages of their careers, and finance underdeveloped areas of research. In addition, our educational workshops and programs, along with our scientific journal, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, enable medical professionals to keep pace with this rapidly growing field.
