The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s “Equestrian of the Year” is a fundraising campaign which welcomes equestrians from all disciplines and all levels to compete against each other to see who can raise the most amount of money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
I am a participant on my quest to be the 2009 Equesterian of the Year and I believe in curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, myeloma, and to improve the quaility of life of patients and their families.
My campaign is in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes and we need your support to help accelerate cures and hope for patients and their families.Although research is responsible for increasing survival rates for these diseases, the battle is far from over. Did you know that:- Every five minutes, someone in this country is diagnosed with blood cancer.
Every nine minutes, someone dies
- . Leukemia is the leading cause of disease-related death among children under age 15
- Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers.
- The myeloma survival rate is only 30 percent.
