| The Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology(DIO) is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization serving the visually impaired and blind community in the tri-county area.
MISSION:
To assist and educate the visually impaired, help preserve vision through public and professional education, and support research related to the eye.
This is the DIO's 5th year as a Charity partner with the Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Marathon. Support the DIO's programs by walking/running/collecting pledges or making a donation. The Marathon is a wonderful opportunity to bring together both the sighted and visually impaired community. Our "Lend an Arm" program pairs sighted walkers with a visually impaired participant in the 5K or Half Marathon.
