| Welcome to my 2008 ING Georgia Marathon training and fundraising page! I am training to participate in the ING Georgia Marathon with team Christianrunners.org (www.christianrunners.org). While I am training to complete this event I will be raising money for a great purpose...spreading the word of God!
Last year I had the privilege to meet Brother Andrew Tonkin of Mission Hill Baptist Church in Hayesville, NC. Bro. Andrew is an Evangelist currently doing missions work in a volcanic region of central Ecuador known as Tungurahua. In this region there are thousands of people living at the foot of an active volcano, which has been erupting continuously since 1999 spewing ash and debris into the air.
Bro. Andrew and his team went to this remote area of the world to bring the word of God to people who have never heard of Jesus Christ. In addition to ministering to these people they have and continue to aid in disaster relief by providing food, clothing, manual labor and materials to repair vital buildings in the community.
Bro. Andrew and his team will be distributing 4 million gospel tracts and 20,000 Bibles, as well as several Bibles in MP3 format for those who can't read during their upcoming trip back to Ecuador.
I sincerely believe in this effort to spread the word of God to those in such need. I hope you will join me in supporting the people willing to do God's work all over the globe.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page. I hope you will check back often to learn about my training progress with my weekly updates! Thanks for your support and encouragement!
Sincerely,
David Johnson
Week of Nov. 4 - 10: So far it's been a good week of running. I've completed every run so far with little pain in my shins or feet. My long run will be 7 miles this week and will take place on the 9th. I haven't run 7 in about 4 weeks so I'm a little nervous about being up to the challenge. |
