| THE DTA HAS JUST RECEIVED A MATCHING GRANT FROM THE USTA. YOUR 2008 CONTRIBUTION WILL NOW BE DOUBLED BY THIS GRANT. For more than 20 years, the Dallas Tennis Association (DTA) has developed, managed and operated programs that serve the underprivileged children in the Greater Dallas community. Programs of this non-profit organization benefit inner-city, at-risk youth whose lives may be surrounded by poverty and hardship, the hearing impaired and children with other disabilities who might not have access to organized sports activities. Not only do the DTA programs give kids in our area the skills they need to play the great game of tennis, but also provide the tools needed to succeed in life - tools like discipline, dedication, teamwork, self-confidence and responsibility.
More than 1,800 low-income, inner-city children participated in the DTA's free tennis programs (National Junior Tennis League, Slam Jammers) this past year. 31 Slam Jammer kids have received tennis and/or academic scholarships to college, and 100% of the Slam Jammer II and III participants have graduated from high school. These programs have received national recognition through the United States Tennis Association (USTA) with the awarding of "NJTL Chapter of the Year" in 2004 and 2005.
The DTA, which is committed to developing winners on the court and in life, depends on the support of individuals and corporations to keep these programs going. Please help us put your generosity to work by giving to the DTA's Invest in a Child program. |
