| As some of you know, I myself have Crohn’s Disease. Most people do not believe that I have the disease. I was diagnosed when I was 13 years old. I have had 5 surgeries as a result of my disease. Having Crohn’s Disease is not only difficult for those of us, who have it, but also on our loved ones. As a child with the disease, I remember the look of despair in my parent’s eyes, helpless to do anything. Through High School and College, the concern from friends who always looked out for my health. Seeing my wife and children sad when I had a flare and was in pain or had another surgery.
When I was diagnosed, I chose to not let Crohn’s Disease dictate my life. I have never let it stop me from doing the things I wanted. High School, Pharmacy School, Residency, Graduate School, Marriage, Children, Skiing, Biking, and the list goes on. As I embark on a fantastic journey, I need your help! I will complete the 50 mile race at the Centurion Canada event on September 18, 2011, to raise funds and awareness for research leading to improved treatment options and a cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
Together, we can make a difference! As a member of Team Challenge Cycle, I have a coach, a training program, and national network of teammates to support me. I have committed to a tough training schedule, and I’ve committed to raise $4,900 in donations to The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. I AM MOTIVATED! I AM COMMITTED!! I WILL DO IT!!! (Watch your mail for my post-event news update.) |
