Welcome to my Man & Woman of the Year home page!
Makayla, Michelle and Branson
In 1997 I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and underwent chemotherapy and radiation. I have now been cancer free for 11 years and have been given the opportunity to show my appreciation for my good health and make a difference in the lives of others too. I would like to share with you what I am doing.

On Friday, February 29th, 2008, I was announced as an official candidate for Woman of the Year with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am running on behalf of two special honorees – Branson Stokes, Boy of the Year, and Makayla Weaver, Girl of the Year. Branson is five years old and loves to play baseball. Branson also like to ride his bike, swim and read. He has a turtle named Dickie who he likes to feed. Branson started Kindergarten at Sierra Vista Elementary this year. His mom says, “He is very curious, he asks to have things explained to him so he can understand.” He was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma) on April 10, 2007. Branson is currently in delayed intensive treatment. Makayla is seven years old and loves to ride her quad. She has a little brother named Carson, two fish, a snail and a dog. Makayla also enjoys scrap booking with her mom. Her favorite subject is reading and she was very excited to start second grade this year. She is very outgoing and her mom says, “She asks a lot questions and likes to find out about everything.” She was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma) on January 3, 2007. After a few complications, Makayla has just started maintenance.

Because of intensive research, amazing strides are being made in leukemia and related cancer treatments. Research is the path to the cure, and money is the path to more research. 75% of the money raised by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society goes directly to fund research and provide family support services.

I am committed to winning Woman of the Year to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and helping raise the necessary money toward finding a cure for leukemia. Anything that you can do to help meet my goal would be greatly appreciated. I have enclosed a Sponsor Form and all contributions are tax deductible.

Although I have made great strides, I am still far from my fundraising goal. Every dollar I earn counts as a vote, I have less than two weeks left! Please send in your vote by April 21st! On April 25th, at the Grand Finale and Silent Auction the winners will be named.

I appreciate your support in anyway you can.

This fundraising event is now complete. Thank you for your support.
