| Little Hearts is a non-profit organization founded in January 1998 by Lenore Cameron . They provide support, resources, networking, and hope to families affected by congenital heart defects (CHD). Membership consists of families who have, had, or are expecting a child with a congenital heart defect from every state in the United States.
Their mission is to offer support and hope to families affected by congenital heart defects through their support services and to promote public awareness for this #1 birth defect.
Our Son Caleb was born with a congenital heart defect called Tricuspid Atresia. Because of this he will have to undergo three complicated open heart surgeries to allow him to live. Before Caleb came into our lives, like many other parents, we did not know that 1 in 100 babies are born with a congenital heart defect. Not all defects are severe as Caleb's. Some are more complex still.
As a parent I feel that I must do everything I can to help bring this cause to the forefront of our collective consciousness. That is why I am raising money to help promote the publics awareness of this issue. On April 3, 2005 I will be participating in The Big D Texas Marathon. I am asking for donations in my sons name to go to Littlehearts. My goal is to raise $100 per mile for a total of $2620. Please help me in this effort by donating online.
