Marine Buddy Challenge
Supporting Our Wounded Warriors
The Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Greater Charlotte has chosen three Marine Corps-related nonprofit organizations to receive net proceeds from the Semper Fi Challenge Series events for 2009. All three serve the needs of wounded and recovering Marines (and sailors who served with Marines. Please note that the “Most Donations” medal we’ll be awarding is a community-wide award ~ anyone can form a team or make an individual donation, whether or not they are Buddy Challenge participants. So please pass that word on to your friends and coworkers and consider forming a fund-raising team of your own. These are wonderful organizations, and it’s a great way to say “Thanks!” to those who have sacrificed so much. Buddy Challenge proceeds will be divided as follows (please visit their web sites for more information): Hope for the Warriors (www.hopeforthewarriors.org) – 50% Hope for the Warriors provides a wide array of services to recovering warriors ~ but our donation to this organization will be earmarked to support the Warrior Hope & Care Center at Camp Lejeune, NC. This $23 million facility will provide consolidated, comprehensive rehabilitation and support services, ensuring the fullest, most expeditious recovery possible for our wounded warriors. Homes for Our Troops (www.homesforourtroops.org) – 30% Homes for Our Troops builds new homes and adapts existing homes for wounded military members across the country. Our donation to this organization will be earmarked to build a home for a North Carolina Marine in the vicinity of Camp Lejeune, NC. Wounded Support Fund of the 2d Marine Division Assoc – 20% This fund provides direct support to the Marines and Sailors of the Wounded Warrior Battalion–East at Camp Lejeune, NC, providing both material needs not covered by the government, and morale and welfare support critical to their recovery. Their presence at the Buddy Challenge, and all Challenge Series events -- is directly supported by this fund.
