Unlike most other Louisiana school systems, East Baton Rouge is one of the few that has made the gutsy move of contracting with a private non-profit to provide the full array of medical services to the public school campuses. From physicians to the school nurses, HCS is running one of the only fully integrated school-based health programs in the United States.

HCS is an opportunity for Baton Rouge to show our community and our country how to become a positive model. We are able to treat most general problems such as stomach aches and headaches on campus. With a student being treated on campus, parents are able to remain at work. This convenience helps the thousands of single parents who are dependent on their weekly paycheck.
