After being diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer in July 2007 at the age of 43 and going through cancer treatments including a lumpectomy, chemotherapy and radiation, I know I don't want any more women to go through what I have been through. Now that I have completed my treatments, I have decided to move on to helping to find a cure so that friends, friends of friends, relatives and even my own daughter in the future will not have to worry about this disease. I have learned a lot about breast cancer this past year and after becoming a member of this club called 'The breast cancer survivor's club' - note one in which I never wanted to join! - I am determined to make a difference where ever I can.
This is my start. I hope to never hear my daughter say 'Mom, I have something to tell you. I have breast cancer.' My 3 year-old daughter was the reason I did everything I could to get well, and she is the reason I plan to do everything I can to find a cure.
I thank you for helping me in order to find a cure for breast cancer.
