| Hello, my name is Avner Fink. I am 27 years old and was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at the age of 15. My girlfriend, Ilana, and I are running the inaugural Boston half marathon with Team Challenge on June 27th. We are raising money for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, which seeks to find a cure for Crohn’s and Colitis. We are running in honor of our good friend, Sara Phillips. Sara’s leg was amputated last year, due to Colitis complications. Sara has fought hard to recover, and thankfully, is well on her way to returning to law school and living her life. She is even training for a triathlon! Sara has been a remarkable inspiration to both of us.*
As you may know, I have been a Crohn’s patient for 12 years. I have taken every drug there is for Crohn’s, but yet none have helped me for any prolonged period of time. After many flare ups and hospital stays, I find it imperative to finally find a cure for these diseases. Having never been a runner, and the need to frequently use the bathroom, this challenge will take much determination, dedication and perseverance. I am therefore asking for your help to get me across the finish line. Please consider donating to this very important cause.** Contributions of all sizes are greatly appreciated.
