I have been nominated to take part in the Woman of the Year competition, and am very excited about this opportunity.
This is especially important for me as a survivor of Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). This is my chance to "give back." I got a second chance, and other people deserve that too. We live in a world virtually free from polio, a world where getting the flu is a one or two week ordeal. We could live in a world where people do not die because of a blood cancer. This is my opportunity to make a difference in not one, but in the many lives of people affected by leukemia, lymphoma and other cancers.
I ask that you join me by making a contribution to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I am raising money in honor of Will Oldham, the 2008 Boy of the Year, who is battling Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. I hope that for Will and me and for others like us, we can make this battle a thing of the past. Your donations are greatly appreciated, and are fully tax deductible. Together we can support the many Leukemia and Lymphoma Society programs, including research, patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services.
