The Great Grove Bed Race is a tongue-in-cheek race to bring communities together, have fun, and raise funds!
The UM Miami Sleep Program, while being a natural partner to "get in bed with" in this fundraiser has a serious side. They strive to provide expert evaluation and comprehensive treatment of sleep disorders, to develop an outstanding research program and to serve as the leading resource for professional and technologist training in sleep medicine for South Florida. As a bed race partner UM has been side by side with Bed Race Directors to bring this event free to the public hopefully for years to come.
Alonzo Mourning Charities (AM Charities) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public fundraising foundation whose mission is to build strong communities by supporting programs and initiatives that have a commitment to promote positive change. . . . just like our bed racers! Since 1997, Mourning has focused his attention to stimulating the development of youth enrichment centers and with the help of donors, Mourning opened the first center in 2003 in the historic area of Overtown, in South Florida, known as the Overtown Youth Center. The next center is targeted for the city of Miami Gardens. In addition, Mourning's Honey Shine Mentoring Program works to empower young girls to shine as women and Zo’s Fund for Life mission empowers individuals and their families who are affected by kidney disease and organ transplantation. Initiatives that truly know the meaning of "donate".
