The Heather Ridley Fleeman Battle for HOPE began four years ago – inspired by a group of committed family and friends of Heather Ridley Fleeman. Heather died in 2004 at the young age of 28 after a long battle with colon cancer. This group decided to partner with HOPE, Inc., a local nonprofit agency dedicated to helping oncology patients excel through financial and emotional assistance and the promotion and development of clinical trials research. All proceeds from the Battle for HOPE benefit HOPE’s services including, direct financial assistance for basic housing and transportation needs as well as for prescription medication. HOPE also has 12 clinical trials open – expanding opportunities for cancer research right here in Northwest Arkansas.
During her life, Heather, who was a member of the Walmart supplier community, was dedicated to supporting agencies like HOPE that work to help cancer patients during treatment while at the same time looking to tomorrow by conducting state-of-the-art cancer research that is locally accessible. |
