Baltimore Police Commissioner Frederick H. Bealefeld, III will start last in the sold out field of 3,100.
For every runner he “catches” or passes on the 10-mile course, Corrigan Sports Enterprises will make a donation to the Police Foundation Fund.
After the race a group photo will be taken of all the runners who were Caught by the Commish. Afterward they will have the option to donate to the Police Foundation Fund by purchasing a “Get Out of Jail Free” card.
Managed by the Baltimore Community Foundation, the Police Foundation Fund was created to accept private donations to support the Baltimore Police Department's efforts to make Baltimore a safer place to live, work and visit. Current priorities for the Police Foundation Fund include:
Training for police officers: Diamond Standard Training is a four-week training program that emphasizes working with the community, overcoming barriers that have been established over time, and ensuring that the safety of the community is always at the forefront of every officer's mind.
Capital improvements to the new training academy being developed at the site of the former Pimlico Middle School in Park Heights, including window repairs, air conditioning and construction of a ropes course.
911 Video Surveillance Enhancement – enabling camera operators to provide real-time information to officers responding to a 911 call.
Officer Recognition, to improve morale and reward officers who exhibit exceptional leadership and community policing.
Portions of proceeds will also benefit the University of Maryland Heart Center: Nationally respected as a forerunner in medical and surgical techniques, the University of Maryland Heart Center is a regional referral center for the most difficult cardiac cases. The vast expertises of its physicians - all of whom are also University of Maryland School of Medicine faculty members - distinguish it as a first-rate, comprehensive heart center.Click the links below if you wish to:
