| Support Team Azalea Charities in our 3rd annual 'Run for Wounded Soldiers' participating this year’s Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) and 10K run on Sunday, October 26, 2008.
Our runners and walkers are dedicating this year’s run to Azalea Charities, Inc. Aid for Wounded Soldiers, a non-profit project that provides comfort and relief items for soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines sick, injured or wounded from service in Iraq and Afghanistan. Staffed with 100% volunteers, all contributions go toward the purchase of specific items requested by Military Medical Centers, VA Medical Centers and Fisher House rehabilitation facilities each week. We also provide financial support to CrisisLink, a Hotline for wounded soldiers and their families, Hope for the Warriors, and special projects for wounded soldiers. Many of the servicemen and women are grievously wounded and will require long hospitalization and rehabilitation. The purpose of our mission is to lift their spirits, enhance their morale, as well as affect a lifetime support program well after our warriors are no longer in the headlines.
Last year Team Azalea Charities had 48 marathon runners from 15 states, the District of Columbia and Belgium who raised over $69,000 from more than 750 generous donors. This year we’re building a team of 100 marathon runners, and have added a 10K team of runners and walkers, committed to seeking support from friends, family, small businesses, and corporate sponsors to raise $225,000, our 2008 Run for Wounded Soldiers project fundraising goal! Please make a contribution below to the overall team, or sponsor an individual runner who may have pointed you to this page by going to the "View Fundraising Pages" drop down menu above.
For more information about Azalea Charities, Inc. or if you know a runner or walker who might want to join our marathon or 10K team, please visit www.aidforwoundedsoldiers.org.
Thank you in advance for your generous support!!
