| Celebrate AMAA's 40th at Boston and Help a Cause |
|
Over 30 percent of children ages six to 11 are overweight, 15 percent are obese, and three out of five children ages nine to 13 don't participate in sports or other coached physical activities outside of school. These overweight and unfit children are more likely to remain unhealthy in adulthood and have an increased risk for developing life-threatening medical conditions such as Type II diabetes and heart disease.
Donations made to the American Medical Athletic Association (AMAA) will help support its joint programs with the American Running Association (ARA), the Youth Fitness Campaign and the signature event National Run a Mile Days held annually in May. Funds will support training materials and onsite events during the week-long celebration to help youth find fun in running and physical activity.
AMAA and ARA are united in efforts to deter youth obesity in the U.S. and promote higher levels of physical activity for school-age youth. The number of obese children in America is at an all-time high, so the sooner we hear from you, the sooner we can reach these children through educators and parents with our programs.
If you donate at least $50 today, you'll receive the commemorative AMAA t-shirt celebrating the association's 40th year at the Boston Marathon.
