| The Journey to Water |
|
| My name is Madison and I have a goal. This past summer I went to a Christ in Youth conference where they showed us a video called “Zambia’s Song”. It was all about the water crisis in Zambia. They talked about the cost of sand filters and wells and my youth group really thought it was a cool mission. On the last night of the conference, we all got little cards with challenges we had to complete. My card said that I needed to save up $1000 for my future. I really thought that instead of helping my future I should try to change someone else's. I decided to raise $5000 with the help of my church and community to build a well in Zambia. People in Zambia have to walk up to 7 miles to get water. The water they get is not even clean and is harmful to them. Filters have been provided to clean their water but they don’t have any close by. For $5000, a fresh water well could be built in the middle of a Zambian village. This well will provide clean water for many people. I really want to build a well but $5000 is a lot of money and I can’t do it alone. I know that with faith and the help of people everywhere, a well can be built. Thank you very much for your support and donations! |
