| The JumpStart Youth Fitness Endowment Foundation started in December of 2005 in order to provide a means for financially underprivileged youth to take control and to begin combating the obesity epidemic that has plagued the nation.
The Foundation was also established to undertake and provide numerous research studies and projects to help federal, state and private institutions in the areas of youth obesity and wellness.
There are over nine million overweight children in the U.S today. That is over 15% of children and teenagers ages 6-19. Obesity in teenagers alone has tripled. Nearly three out of every four overweight teenagers will become overweight adults! Due to these and other overwhelming statistics, JumpStart Youth Fitness Endowment Foundation realized that these problems do not go away as children grow to adulthood.
Our mission is to aggressively and drastically improve the health, wellness and physical fitness of the youth by giving them opportunities to participate in age appropriate fitness facilities and/or programs. To ensure that the youth are getting the most out of their opportunities, the facility and programs have to meet specific requirements which are set by the JumpStart Youth Fitness Endowment Foundation.
More specifically, we present funds in the form of scholarships and grants to youth who may not be able to meet the expense of a full membership to an exercise facility. You can help with this great cause and assist financially underprivileged youth so that they, too, may obtain the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle. |
