Support the Women's Resource Center
Empower a Woman, Change a Life
The Women’s Resource Center of Durango will be the beneficiary of the Animas Surgical Hospital Durango Double Road and Trail Festival for Runners scheduled for Oct. 6-7. The Women’s Resource Center was established 25 years ago to help newly divorced women and widows find the resources they needed to become economically self-sufficient. The Center continues to offer an open door, five days a week to women who need help finding community services to feed, clothe, and shelter their families; help with résumé writing and job searches; help finding legal advice for custody or divorce issues; or assistance with starting a business. The Center also provides women with opportunities to network and support each other through Empowerment Workshops and Women’s History Month activities. And most recently, the Center established a new Educational Opportunities Program that provides scholarships at Fort Lewis College and an educational fund for training and certification programs. Last year, the Center assisted more than 800 women and girls in La Plata County.
