Hi! This webpage is in honor of my Dad, W.T. Bates, who was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer on April 26th, 2012.
It wasn't until my Dad's diagnosis that I began to learn about pancreatic cancer. Receiving a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer is devastating news. With today's advances and technology, there are many more options today in fighting this disease. My Dad is currently going through a grueling, aggressive chemotherapy treatment, which will likely be followed by radiation treatments, and then the "Whipple" surgery which in itself is a demanding and difficult operation.
This has become my cause. My Dad's diagnosis has changed my life. I am training to become a runner, (of which I have NEVER been good at) so that I can participate in walks/runs to raise funds to support pancreatic cancer research, as well as raise awareness to this type of cancer.
I am learning how to be more healthy in my own life, hoping to set a strong example for my children in doing something that will inspire others to action, all the while contributing to a good cause. My first walk/run is in August, in Columbus Georgia. I am starting early, hoping to be a top fundraiser!!!
It doesn't matter if you give $1 to this organization. Every dollar counts! Donate to honor someone special in your life, or donate in someone's beautiful memory. Every dollar goes directly to this organization, and you will be sent a tax deductible receipt. Thank you SO much for giving! It means the world to me and it means the world to my Dad!
