Begun in 1984 at Stanford University, Challenge for Charity’s mission is to support the Special Olympics and local family-related charities as a way to develop business leaders with lifelong commitment to community involvement and social responsibility. C4C is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that has drawn on the talents, energy and resources of MBA students from West Coast business schools. C4C is active on eight campuses: Stanford, University of Washington, UC-Berkeley, UC-Davis, UC-Irvine, UCLA, USC, and Pepperdine. While Challenge for Charity is present at the schools, C4C is not funded by the schools. Students at each school raise money through fundraising events and the accumulation of donations. Last year, Challenge for Charity raised nearly $500,000.
