I run because I can.
That is my right as an American.
Now I run to support and hail
those that sacrifice without fail.

Nodine Around America

I am a former active duty Marine and currently a Captain in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. I fought in Iraq with First Battalion Eighth Marine Regiment (1/8) in Fallujah in November 2004 (Operation Phantom Fury). During this deployment and the Battle of Fallujah, twenty-one of my fellow Marines of 1/8 were killed and over 200 were wounded.

My personal experience now acts as a call-to-action to gather support for all the Marines, and their families, who have been wounded while defending our freedom.

On March 30, 2008, I started biking and running towards a goal of 10,000 miles to raise money for Hope for the Warriors™ . “The mission of Hope for the Warriors™ is to enhance quality of life for US Service Members and their families nationwide who have been adversely affected by injuries or death in the line of duty.”

Will you help with a tax-deductible donation to Hope for the Warriors™? You will make a difference in the lives of Marines and their families who have already sacrificed much to our great Country.

Any amount that you donate is appreciated. One hundred percent of the money you donate goes to Hope for the Warriors.

I chose 10,000 miles as that is roughly the equivalent of the distance from the home base of 1/8, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, across the southern part of the United States to Camp Pendleton, California, to Lake Ozette, Washington, across the northern part of the United States to Cranberry Isles, Maine (via Chicago and Cleveland), down the western edge of Florida to Key West with a final ending back at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. I have entitled my charitable efforts as “Nodine Around America.”

As a way to track my progress towards 10,000 miles, I overlay the miles I bike and run here in the DC area onto www.mapmyrun.com. You are invited to follow my progress towards my goal of 10,000 miles by going to http://www.mapmyrun.com/run/united-states/nc/camp-lejeune/420758238.
