26.2 Mi FOR E.SHOE !!!!!!!!!!
To be exact, it's 26.2 miles; 138,336 feet; 461 football fields; 4,216,489 centimeters; 60,235.5 arm lengths; 55,334.5 paces; 524 city blocks; a MARATHON! It takes the average runner nearly five hours to finish. It is also the distance I will be running on June 23, 2007!
Margaret Mead once said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
Here’s the deal… My name is Krista Littleton, and I recently became a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s, Team in Training. As a member, I am currently training for the Mayor’s Midnight Sun Marathon in Anchorage, Alaska on June 23, 2007. The Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon joins more than 3,500 runners as they wind through Anchorage's award winning trail system during Alaska's summer solstice. The course offers scenic vistas and wildlife viewing opportunities as it travels from the foothills of the Chugach Mountains to the steely waters of Cook Inlet. I am so, super excited for such a unique and life changing experience!!!
All of us involved with Team in Training are raising funds to help stop Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Myeloma from taking more lives. My honored hero is 16 year old, Elizabeth Shoemaker. Elizabeth was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in August of 2002 and continues her battle today. Elizabeth has shown us what strength is and continues to truly be an inspiration to everyone. I will be running all 26.2 miles in her honor.
People everywhere like Elizabeth are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to help cross the ultimate finish line – a cure! I would appreciate your help in a fundraising effort for Team in Training and to help advance the Society’s mission. I have to raise $4900.00. The wonderful part about it is, 75% goes straight to research for a cure for cancer. The remaining 25% allows Team in Training to provide transportation and a place to stay while in Alaska. Since TNT’s inception, 320,000 participants have raised over $750 million. WOW! Your encouragement and consideration means the world to me, so keep it up!!!
SAVING LIVES, ONE MILE AT A TIME. ? woo hooooooooo!
I am really looking forward to one of the greatest achievements of my life. ?
I hope you will support me and give generously to such an awesome cause!
So come back and check out my page all the time and see how I am doing. I will be updating lots to let everyone know how my training is going!
YAYYY! I’m a marathonerrrr!!!
Thank you, Krista Mae Littleton
- January 20 - My first training session with the TEAM was 6 miles in light snow at the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk! I am so stoked right now and I am looking forward to adding 20.2 more miles to this run!
- February 10 - Run 2 with the team- 6.5 miles in Pike Creek, 730am and 11 degrees. the rolling hills kinda rolled my foot. Definitely strained the arch in my right foot on this run and I'm out for about a week. new running shoes are a must.
- February 22 – Benefit at the Chalkboard Tavern and Grille – so amazing, thank you SO much to everyone who came out to support Elizabeth and I. you rock, and so does all of the money you helped me raise toward my goal!
Keep in touch for more benefit dinners, fundraising parties, and running stories.
