Tennis Lovers for Charity (TLC)

3 Steps: It’s as easy as 1-2-3!!

Mission: Dedicated to creating comprehensive tools and services to make charitable giving a part of every tennis player’s life, Tennis Lovers for Charity is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to connect tennis players with the charities and causes they care about and to increase overall giving.

 

 

1. Planning
1. Choose any charitable organization that you feel passionate about.  See list of charities here or in Events or wwwGuideStar.com for ideas. 
2. Also pick any USTA or other tennis event.  See list of USTA events in your area at USTA or Events listed here. You can also play for your team tennis or any other tennis event.
2. Fundraising

1. Click on http://www.active.com/donate/TLC2009, which is a great tool for TLC and you to do the fundraising.
2. Click at the top of the toolbar, “Become a Fundraiser”.  Then click on “ Fundraise as an Individual” or “Create a Fundraising Team”.
3. From here, you quickly register and set-up your own personalized fundraising website.   Set your goal to raise funds for that charity that you previously selected.  Set any dollar amount, yet feel free to set a “stretch goal” and see how close you can get!  Most of our fundraisers target $250-$500 per tennis activity.  Start with an email to friends and family.  See the email template.  Also talk with them personally about your cause.  Other ideas: add a note in your email auto signature, set-up a Blog, webpage on TLC, on your Facebook, MySpace, or other social networking site.
2. Play the Fun USTA Tennis Event

1. Compete in the USTA or other tennis event.  Feel free to still promote and fundraise while you are at the event.  Let the tournament director, team mates, friends, family, and others know about your passion for your cause.  Maybe even refer other tennis playing friends to do the same through TLC!
2. After you tennis event, collect any remaining donations not yet collected and mail or confirm delivery to TLC.  TLC will then distribute all proceeds to your and/or your donor’s charity of choice.
3. Plan your next tennis event/cause through TLC. And go through the easy 1-2-3 steps again!
