| I will be riding my bike from Maine to New York in honor of my daughter Bridget and all those who suffer with Nephrotic Syndrome and Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). Bridget is now 13 and has been battling Nephrotic Syndrome for 11 years.
Nephrotic Syndrome and FSGS are chronic kidney diseases for which there is no known cause or cure. Patients must experiment with a variety of toxic drugs to help sustain their kidney function. No treatment is guaranteed and many cases will lead to kidney failure, dialysis, and kidney transplants. Unfortunately for many, a transplant is not the end all since the disease remains in the body and often attacks the new kidney.
Your tax-deductible donations will support the mission of the NephCure Foundation. NephCure is currently the only organization exclusively committed to support research seeking the cause and cure for Nephrotic Syndrome and FSGS. FSGS is the second leading cause of kidney failure in children and targets adults as well which is why we need greater awareness. NephCure provides educational programs and raises money to fund research which will lead to effective treatments for Bridget and thousands of others who share her story.
