| As many of you know, I ran as a charity runner for Girls on the Run in the 2008 Chicago marathon. I have decided to run the 2011 Chicago marathon and am once again raising money for Charlotte's Girls on the Run council. I coached a GOTR team while teaching at Rea View and saw first-hand the impact the program had on adolescent girls. The confidence-boosting and relationship-strengthening lessons and workouts are critical for these third, fourth, and fifth grade girls. Now that I have a daughter of my own, I realize more than ever how important it is to instill healthy habits for the mind and body at a early age. Any contribution great or small goes directly to our local council, benefitting elementary age school girls and allowing this wonderful program to continue.
Even if you cannot contribute financially at this time, I appreciate your support and words of encouragement as I train for and complete this 26.2 miles! |

| Girls on the Run is an innovative health education and wellness program that combines training for a 3.1 mile run/walk event with life-changing, self esteem enhancing lessons that encourage healthy habits and an active lifestyle for third through eighth grade girls. SoleMates is the adult charity running program of Girls on the Run. We are a team of female and male athletes who pursue individual goals, such as running a marathon, to raise money for Girls on the Run programs nationwide. Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
