| The Skate Against Violence Roadskate is a 450 mile skate-a-thon from San Francisco to Santa Monica. The event is a rolling anti-violence campaign that starts at San Francisco City Hall and rolls through San Francisco, Oakland, Fresno, Visalia, Porterville, Bakersfield, Santa Monica and ends at the Santa Monica Pier.
Teamwork, working together as one unit, is the focus of this event. There will be 9 skaters and 4 support people involved in the skate-a-thon. The skaters will be broken down into three teams. Each team will skate for an hour, rotating skating duties every hour. The skate-a-thon will go nonstop 24 hours a day. We want to show camaraderie and working together to reach a common goal as an example to others while at the same time show that skaters can actually skate these distances.
There will be two (2) R V vehicles and a van supporting the skaters. The skaters will skate in front of the R V's. on the far right shoulder of the roadway.
Money raised over the costs to produce the roadskate will go to the C.O.R.A. Skate Against Violence Campaign where we take used skates and fix them up for underprivileged youth for Christmas and the C.O.R.A. SkateFit Program. |
