Superstar Mat Mladin Joins 2Fast and Seattle 100 Riders in the Fight Against Kidney Diseases
On Saturday, July 26, 2008, six-time AMA Superbike Champion and one of the most respected racers on the planet - Mat Mladin of Yoshimura Suzuki - will join motorcycle enthusiasts at the 2008 Seattle 100. This is a charitable track day event benefiting The NephCure Foundation (www.nephcure.org). To participate, riders raise a minimum of $500, and top fundraisers have exceeded $8000 in past years. The event has achieved remarkable success since its beginnings, as evidenced by last year’s record fundraising total: $145,000 in gross overall proceeds.
Last year’s event was remarkable: Mat Mladin’s teammate Ben Spies of Yoshimura Suzuki joined Jordan Suzuki's Jake Holden, Chaz Davies of Celtic Yamaha, and Matsushima Performance Suzuki's Danny Eslick . These famous guests put on quite a show for those in attendance. “It's a cool event for a great cause" said Ben Spies, who has now added his name to the list of top tier AMA racers having lent their support to the Seattle 100. Previous celebrity attendees include the famous comedian David Alan Grier, Josh Hayes (four years in a row), Aaron Yates, Jake Zemke, and Greg White of Speed TV, among others.
The event is co-organized by Brian Orton and his business partner Mark DeGross of 2Fast Motorcycle Track Days & Instruction. Their information and bios can be seen on www.2-Fast.org. Brian is the co-founder and vice-president of The NephCure Foundation , and has been passionate about raising awareness of Nephrotic Syndrome: in 1999, his son was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome. Accompanied by his great support system of participants, special guests, sponsors, and spectators, Brian is certain that this year’s event will again help raise the much needed funds for kidney disease research, research funding being a priority of The NephCure Foundation.
The NephCure Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to support research seeking the cause of Nephrotic Syndrome and Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), improve treatment and find a cure.
