| So after 2 seasons of triathlons my legs still don't look like this? |

| Hi friends and family,
I'm competeing in this crazy Half Ironman race to raise money for Melanoma research and treatment. You can help by donating to the Joanna M Nicolay Melanoma foundation to find the best treatments, and continue to raise awareness on ways to prevent and identify skin cancer. (Or you could help push my bike up a few of those mountains for me on Race day! Just Kidding!) |

The “TRI-TO-WIN…the fight against melanoma” triathlon fundraising directly benefits the Joanna M. Nicolay Melanoma Foundation. The Foundation, an all-volunteer, non-profit charity, is known nationally as "the voice for melanoma prevention, detection, care and cure." Triathletes, experienced and first-timers alike, join the community of patients, families, doctors, educators and concerned individuals to:
• support medical research that will ultimately lead to a cure for melanoma;
• seek opportunities to educate the general public on prevention and the seriousness of melanoma; and,
• provide resources for patients and the entire melanoma community.
Our collective efforts are important and all contributions are tax deductible to the Foundation, a 501(c)(3), non-profit, public charity - Federal Tax ID 55-0855653.
> GOT SKIN? LEARN THESE FACTS:
* Melanoma is the most serious and lethal form of skin cancer. * The lifetime risk of developing melanoma is
1 in 39. * Melanoma is the only cancer for which incidence and mortality are rising unabated, yet only receives 10% of the funding provided to other cancer research. * 1.2 million new cases of skin cancer occurred in the U.S. in 2006-more than all other new cases of breast, lung, colon and prostate combined. * During the past 10 years, the number of cases of melanoma has increased more rapidly than that of any other cancer. * 10,000 people in the U.S. died in 2006 from skin cancer of which 8,000 were melanoma.. * One person dies every hour in the U.S. from melanoma. * The incidence rate in Maryland alone increased over 300% in the past two decades.
WHEN WE "TRI-TO-WIN' TOGETHER, WE WILL WIN!!! |
