In an effort to do something that I never thought I could or would do (run, much less a half-marathon) and do it for a wonderful person and an equally great cause, I've signed up with Team Challenge to run the San Jose Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon on Sunday, Otober 14, 2007. And yup..that's a whopping 13.1 miles to be exact!
Your generous donations (whether large or small, yet nonetheless significant) will benefit the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) with the hope of finding a cure for Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. And here's the best part: I'm running in honor of a courageous and inspiring young woman named Kelly McGregor who, 6 years ago, was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and has since, undergone 9 life-altering surgeries. Today, although still living with the disease, Kelly has chosen to lead a life of optimism and in fact, will be running the 13.1 miles with me! I know...WOW!
As part of my commitment to Kelly and others like her, I am determined to raise $1500 dollars to benefit the foundation and dedicate all my Saturdays (from now thru October) to an intensive training program in the SF bay area. A minimum of 80 cents per dollar raised by CCFA goes directly to research and patient support, and your contribution is tax deductible.
I sincerely hope you will join me in my Run for a Cure. Thank you so much for your support...I can't wait!
