| This year marking the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 I will be running in the Tunnel to Towers 5K on September 25th to "follow in the footsteps of a hero".
The morning of September 11th, 2001, firefighter and father of five, Stephen Siller, had just come off the late shift at Squad 1 in Park Slope, Brooklyn. He was on his way home when news of the first plane hitting the Twin Towers came over his scanner. He called his wife, Sally, to tell her he would be late and returned to Squad 1 to get his gear. When Stephen drove his truck to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel it was already closed to traffic so, with sixty pounds of gear strapped to his back, he ran through the Tunnel towards the smoldering Towers to meet up with his Squad. Stephen is one of 343 of New York City's Bravest who died when the Towers fell.
