2007/2008 participants enjoy a day at Mt. Hood Ski Bowl.

Help put Northwest Kids with Risk Factors through a 5 week Adventure Therapy program designed to build character and protective factors through the vehicles of skiing and snowboarding.

SOS Outreach (SOS), in partnership with the Summit at Snoqualmie, White Pass, Mt. Spokane, Mt. Hood Meadows, Ski Bowl and Timberline, links kids with adult mentors and mountain instructors to provide them a chance to complete a ski or snowboard program structured around the values of Courage, Discipline, Integrity, Wisdom and Compassion.

When our participants graduate the Learn to Ride Program they can apply for the 4 Year SOS University Program where they are matched with a mentor (Sherpa) year-round, and continue learning about the 5 core values not only through on mountain days, but through community service, goal setting, vocational skills learning, and many other meaningful endeavors that help them to overcome the risk factors in their lives. At the end of their 5 years with SOS they are then eligible to become Junior Sherpas and mentor kids just like themselves, with the continued guidance of the adult mentors (Sherpas) in their lives. The SOS programs are based on best practices in the areas of character education, building resiliency, and adventure therapy. For more information about SOS, a 501 C 3, non-profit organization, in business since 1993, visit http://www.SOSOutreach.org/

It costs just over $300 to send one student through the five day program, and your contribution goes directly to SOS NW. Let's stay committed to helping our kids grow up with all the support they need to be healthy, strong members of our community.
