| My involvement with Girls on the Run started two years ago when Ella wanted to participate in the program. She begged me to coach so we could do something together, and I agreed... with the caveat that I wasn't running. On the first day, another first-time, non-running coach and I decided that if the girls could do it, we could try too. Two years later I'm still running, and am now training for the Richmond Half Marathon in November.
This program has not only gotten me (starting at age 45) running, Ella is still running, and now Kathryn is participating in the program as well. More importantly, they are participating in a curriculum that shows them how to value their own unique gifts and to celebrate them. To help 30 girls through a lesson in gratitude or in finding their own inner beauty, or to run with nearly 500 girls as they complete a 5K (many for the first time) is an amazing experience for which I will always be grateful.
If you are able, I'm asking you to consider a donation to this fantastic program. Your help will allow that many more girls to experience the program, and to know how amazing they all are. |

| Girls on the Run is an innovative health education and wellness program that combines training for a 3.1 mile run/walk event with life-changing, self esteem enhancing lessons that encourage healthy habits and an active lifestyle for third through eighth grade girls. SoleMates is the adult charity running program of Girls on the Run. We are a team of female and male athletes who pursue individual goals, such as running a marathon, to raise money for Girls on the Run programs nationwide. Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
