| Welcome! THANK YOU for wanting to be a runner who helps former runners. Whether you are running or donating, you are supporting a greyt cause! Your efforts will save many greyhounds' lives and give them loving homes, so please spread the word to all of your friends and family to support the 2012 Steel City Greyhounds' Marathon Team!
Our marathon team has an unlimited number of spaces for runners of the full or half marathon. If you don't want to run by yourself, then join as a part of a relay team. As a marathon charity team participant, you will save money on your registration fee while supporting a greyt cause. Ready to join? You can contact Ann Rairigh and Korryn Mozisek at SCG_MarathonTeam@yahoo.com for directions on how to register.
Steel City Greyhounds (SCG) is a nonprofit corporation that promotes the adoption of retired racing greyhounds in the metropolitan Pittsburgh and surrounding western Pennsylvania regions. We are an all-volunteer organization which means that 100% of the proceeds raised by the SCG Marathon Team goes to the organization's adoption program. The proceeds cover the costs associated with greyhound medical expenses, including spay and neuter surgery, vaccinations, and wellness exams, along with other adoption program operating costs.
Our goal is to raise money to help retired racers find forever homes. Greyhounds begin their lives like no other breed, destined to be raised in the racing environment. They are very competitive athletes, yet gentle and sensitive by nature, making them perfect canine companions.
By running or donating you help these 45 MPH couch potatoes move from the kennel to a couch!
Keep an eye out for these former runners and their cheer team between mile 18 and 19 on May 6, 2012 so they can give you a roo and a boost for the home stretch! |
