Running USA is the trade association for long distance running whose mission is to promote, grow and celebrate the sport. Each year our efforts help more than 19 million runners cross finish lines all across the country. We also directly fund programs and events that help promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
The Allan Steinfeld Development Award, a $25,000 grant established by non-profit Running USA, is now in its fifth year. Past recipients are Zap Fitness, Kokopelli Kids, We Run This City and The American Distance Project. Running USA also provides two $5,000 grants to superlative youth running programs each year.
One coach shared with us how receiving the Allan Steinfeld Award helped his athletes excel and prepare for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials:
“The grant gave us a year in which we did not have to worry day to day, week to week about where and how we would get our bills paid in order to serve our athletes. For the first time it gave ZAP a cushion and allowed us to spend more time on development. This grant changed our group immensely.” –Head Coach, Founder of ZAP Fitness, Peter Rea.
Running USA is proud to support our developing American distance talent and expand our grant awards. But we cannot do so without your help. Please donate today to support our next group of honorees.
