| Rollin' for Carter |
|
John Carter is a friend of mine. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on August 10, 2007. Since his diagnosis he has spent the majority of his time in treatment and in hospitals. He's undergone major chemotherapy and also had a bone marrow transplant. He's making progress, but he's been out of work a while, and while he has insurance, it's not paying all of the bills. With disability insurance as his only source of income, John and his family are struggling to make ends meet.
John Carter has given a lifetime of service in various communities, having previously worked as a firefighter, paramedic, and hospice chaplain. He's well respected and loved by our co-workers at Group Publishing (www.group.com) who all just want to see him get back to work real soon because it's piling up and he's the only one who can dig us out!
So what's the Big Idea?
I'll endeavor to skate 100 continuous miles on inline skates from Group Publishing to the end of Boyd Lake and back four times. This is a trail skate with some hills, at elevation here in Loveland.
I'll be skating in inline skates by Rollerblade.
I'm seeking pledges of sponsorship on a cash per mile donation basis. Suggested donation is $.25 per mile / $25 total pledge. (I promise I won't skate more than 100 miles!) Feel free to pledge more!
Please consider sponsorship on a per mile basis. I'm going to skate 100 continuous miles. I've never done it, don't know if I really can, but I'm going to try. Because I can. We can all use our passions to help others - no matter what they are!
