| On any particular day, I get up and make a series of choices: Coffee (at home or at Starbucks); Study (my Bible or a book); Ride My Bike (road or mountain). And so goes my day - a series of choices - made freely throughout the day.
For some people - ones who have fought for my freedoms - they have far less choices. Some of them have no more choices, because they died fighting for mine and their families are left to make choices they never thought they would have to. For others, their choices are far different from coffee or bike riding because they were injured fighting for freedoms that I take for granted on any particular day.
This is why I do the Ride for Semper Fi - so that on any particular day, I will to remember not to take those freedoms for granted.
ON THIS PARTICULAR DAY, why don't you join me in remembering and honoring those who have far less choices than you or I. As we stumble to our french presses and favorite reading spots, remember how they stumble to roll over in their beds. Help me to remember! Help me to help them as I ride 430 miles from Scottsdale, AZ to San Diego, CA. |
