| What Are Crhon's and Ulcerative Colitis? Crohn's disease and Ulcerative colitis are painful and unpredictable diseases that attack the digestive system. Crohn's disease may attack anywhere along the digestive tract, while ulcerative colitis inflames only the large intestine (colon). Some 1.4 million American adults and children suffer from Crohn's disease or Colitis, with as many as 150,000 under the age of 18. Most people develop the diseases between the ages of 15 and 35. THERE CURRENTLY IS NO CURE! TEAMCHALLENGE is an endurance training program designed to raise funds to help find a cure for Crohn"s disease and Colitis TeamCahllenge trains novice and advanced participants to run or walk in a half marathon over a 16 week period, culminating in a half-marathon event at the Rock "n" Roll Las Vegas Marathon December 4th, 2011 down the Las Vegas Strip at night. TeamChallenge is the exclusive charity of the Las Vegas Rock "n" Roll Half Marathon! The Ultimate Vegas experience with electrifying, live entertainment at night! Come with us to experience a surefire win. You'll rock 'n' roll with Elvis on this action packed course down the strip. Your donations can make the difference. I am sure the name Mike McCready sounds familiar. He is the guitarist for Pearl Jam. He has suffered with Crohn's diseases for over 20 years and has suffered with the pain and issues that accompany this disease, many times touring in severe pain. He has recently become a member of Team Challenge and takes time out of his busy touring schedule to run in Team Challenge marathons to raise money and awareness for this worthy cause. Why Crohn's and Colitis for the Holt's? Well my grandfather had Crohn's disease, my father died from complications from Crohn's, I was diagnosed with Crohn's over 9 years ago, and my beautiful 23 year old daughter was diagnosed just a few months ago. The final blow that pushed us off the couch and in to action is when my son's first girlfriend in grade school passed away due to complications from Crohn's disease. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! IT IS TIME TO CURE THIS DISEASE! |
