The Marine Mammal Center is a non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates and releases sick, injured and orphaned marine mammals. Over the last 35 years, the Center has cared for more than 15,000 animals that have been found along 600 miles of Northern and Central California coastline.
As a 501 (3)(c) non-profit organization, the Center relies on 80% of its funding from individuals like you. All proceeds from "Run for the Seals" benefit the work of the Center.
"Run for the Seals" takes place at a crucial time of year for The Marine Mammal Center. Spring is pupping season for many seals and sea lions, and we rescue an average of 200 orphaned and sick Pacific harbor seal pups and northern elephant seals each year. Seal pups, although cute, are time and care intensive, but the reward of nurturing these animals back to health and seeing them return to the wild is priceless.
