Hello and welcome! On October 12, I will be running the Chicago Marathon to benefit the Breast Cancer Network of Strength. This wonderful organization provides crucial help to those facing breast cancer, including prostheses, a wig salon, support groups and couseling services-- all at NO COST to its clients. Each of our lives has been touched by breast cancer. I am running this race in honor of my grandmother, Juanita, who raised five daughters, introduced countless children to the joys of reading as a librarian and sewed just about anything...without a pattern. And for my Aunt Judy, a small-town elementary school teacher whose story-telling rivaled Garrison Keeler's and cakes rivaled Martha Stewart's. These amazing women lost the fight against this disease, but they never lost hope. I'll do the running if you'll do the giving: together, we can give hope to many more women facing breast cancer. Thanks for your time and generosity! |
