Running to honor women who had or have breast cancer

Dear Friends, When I tell people that I am running the 2008 Bank of America Chicago Marathon I get different reactions from “THAT’S GREAT!!” to “YOU MUST BE CRAZY!!”. Running the Chicago Marathon has always been a desire of mine, in choosing to participate in this Marathon I also chose to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer by Running Pink. I am sure that if you think about all the people that you know you probably know somebody who’s had to battle breast cancer. I personally have good friends that are still battling cancer. When I think of those friends and their fight against cancer, running 26.2 miles does not sound so difficult. The mission of Breast Cancer Network of Strength pretty much says it all: this amazing organization works to ensure that no one faces breast cancer alone. With all of these new cases of breast cancer comes a huge need for support, to help the women and men recently diagnosed, to help the friends, partners, and caretakers of breast cancer patients. Network of strength does just this, and so much more. Being a part of the Pinkstreak team I have to raise a minimum of $850.00, but my goal is to raise $1,000.00. I count on your help to raise support for this great organization helping to fight breast cancer. Thank you, Raquel Castilho
