The Phoenix Ensemble
Support the PhoenixPhest! - The 7th Annual Chamber Music Festival
The Phoenix Ensemble is a nonprofit arts organization based in Ann Arbor and dedicated to helping artists and the educational community.

The seventh annual Phoenix Phest! offers high-quality instruction in a supportive atmosphere infused with the joy of making music. Amateur musicians of all ages have the opportunity to play in pre-formed or Phoenix- phormed ensembles and be coached by experienced professional musicians. A low instructor-to-student ratio ensures a thorough learning experience.

The Phest models peaceful, productive cooperation in the practice of art and in the encouragement of deepened human contacts and lifelong learning. Coaching is provided by members of the Phoenix Quartet and other performer/teachers who come from around the United States. Students will spend their time working intensively as part of a small ensemble to prepare a chamber music piece and perform it. The entire Phest community of students and faculty will also rehearse and perform a large-group piece at the final concert.

PhoenixPhest is led by violinist Gabriel Bolkosky, executive director of the nonprofit Phoenix Ensemble. The organization is completing its first decade as a resource to artists and the educational community in Ann Arbor. PhoenixPhest! is held at Greenhills School in northeast Ann Arbor, and the faculty and student concerts take place in Greenhills’ Campbell Center for the Performing Arts. We are grateful to Greenhills School for their active support of PhoenixPhest!

Plus, it is fun!

How to Participate

Phest participants have included students from ages six to 60 and above. They have ranged in level from players just learning to read music to serious university students and those preparing to embark on careers as professional musicians. What they have in common is the desire to come together as a community and work on music together in a noncompetitive atmosphere.

To maintain the amount of personal attention and the collegial atmosphere that make the Phest special, enrollment will be strictly limited with an aim of no more than 50 participants.

To ensure a quality experience for all, the final deadline for registration is April 4, 2008. You are strongly encouraged to register as soon as possible. Earlier registrants get a tuition discount!
