|More than 600,000 Americans and 12.5 million people worldwide –– are affected by polycystic kidney disease (PKD). PKD is one of the world’s most common, life-threatening genetic diseases, often causing kidney failure and death. PKD causes cysts to grow on the kidneys, eventually leading to kidney failure. Parents with the disease have a 50 percent chance of passing it on to each of their children. Currently, dialysis and transplantation are the only treatments. There is no cure for PKD. |
PKD Foundation's mission is to promote programs of research, advocacy, education, support and awareness in order to discover treatments and a cure for Polycystic Kidney Disease and improve the lives of all it affects.
Complimentary entry to the Stratton Faxon New Haven Road Race for those who raise $200 or more for the PKD Foundation. Once you have reached $200, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for the password to register free of charge.
