| I have been paddling since I was a little kid and have always loved being on
the water. I am lucky to have the opportunity to use my training and racing
experiences to raise awareness about the causes I care about. Along with my
other paddling teammates, I am a team member of the Ocean of Hope (O2H), a
group of paddleboarders and canoe paddlers who give back to the community by
dedicating our time to helping others. O2H was created to support the
Sarcoma Alliance, a nonprofit group that is the gathering place for those
affected with sarcoma, a devastating cancer that is difficult to diagnose
and even harder to cure. I learned that sarcoma can affect not only people
but animals as well. Being a part of this team can help raise awareness
about sarcoma cancers affecting all parts of the population, human and
animal, and to raise money which can help cancer sufferers and survivors get
second opinion grants which can literally save their life. My aunt lost her
battle with cancer last year and I have seen the devastating effect of
cancer not only on my aunt but my whole family. All support and
contributions help in the fight against cancer. On September 10, my team
will be racing from Newport Beach to Catalina Island. We are dedicating our
race to the Sea of People Affected by Cancer. I am proud to be a part of the
Ocean of Hope. Thank you for taking the time to donate to the cause. -Jean |
