| Though chartered by Congress to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters, the American Red Cross is not funded as a government agency. Every year, the residents of Escambia County rely on their local Red Cross for emergency assistance when affected by house fires, chemical spills, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes and other disasters. In turn we must rely on the generosity, compassion and trust of our community to help us fulfill our mission.
