| OHF Walk for a Cure in Honor of Jason Nichols |
|
| We are doing this to raise awareness & money for research for www.ohf.org. This is the only organization in the world dedicated to improving the care and treatment and finding a cure for Oxalosis, PH and related stone diseases.
PH(primary hyperoxaluria) is a very rare genetic disease that can affect babies, young children, teens & adults. Help Zach and I make a difference so no other person has to go through what Jay did. This will be the 2nd Walk for a Cure for OHF in Texas and the first in Waco. So let's make this the best one ever!
Jason "Jay" Nichols was a 1988 graduate of University High School where he played on the Trojans football team. Jay worked for Sherwin Williams in Waco & Garland for 19 years. In 2003, Jay earned his bachelors degree from Baylor University through the Hankamer School of Business. Jay & I met our senior year at University High School and married several years later. We were blessed with one wonderful son, Zach.
Jay received the gift of life on Oct. 8, 2008 at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas with a combined liver/kidney transplant. Jay endured 8 months of ups and downs with complications. His fight ended May 30, 2009. Jay was always full of life and always had a smile on his face while he fought with everything he had. He was a very compassionate person that would help anyone in need.
Zach and I want to continue to help others that might be affect by this rare genetic disease. Many in the medical field do not know how to treat or even know about this disease. We are determined to change that and get the best care for anyone affected by this. Please join us September 24th so we can make that happen. |
