| Every Child a Cure |
|
| Hey everyone! My name is Amelia Polkowski Barrons. As most of you know I am a teacher in Ann Arbor. I teach a wonderful group of students. Each child is different and special in their own way. One of my students is Donnie. He came to me two years ago and we can't seem to get enough of each other. Donnie is diagnosed with a rare disorder, Rubinstein Taybi Syndrome. Without speaking, Donnie stole my heart. I watch Donnie make fantastic progress at school and participate in a way only Donnie can.
He is loving and engaging, intuitive, cheerful, and bright.
Donnie's mom, Stephanie Hunt, raises awareness on the pageant stage and I knew could help.
I've ran 4 marathons for myself and decided to dedicate this one to Donnie.
My sister Anna and I are running the Detroit Marathon. We will be raising money for the National Organization for Rare Disorders, specifically Rubinstein Taybi research. We are extremely excited and honored to be running for an amazing cause and little boy.
