| Susan G. Komen Northern Indiana Race for the Cure |
|
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is a unique fitness event. It includes a celebration of life. Participants are welcomed to the start line with a barrage of pink. A key aspect of the Race for the Cure is the Komen Survivor Recognition Program. This is a celebration of breast cancer survivors (both men and women). At each Race event, those who choose to be recognized wear complementary pink t-shirts. In addition, Race participants are encouraged to wear “In Memory of” and “In Celebration of” back signs, honoring loved ones for their strength and courage.
There will be tents for survivors and vendors, a main stage with music and entertainment as well as presentations and a five kilometer run/walk . The community is encouraged to come join in the celebration by participating in the run/walk as well as the survivor recognition ceremony preceding the race. A moment of silence will be observed for those who have been taken by the disease. It is a half day event that welcomes all who have been touched by breast cancer to join the fight to find a cure.
